London trade shows - Pure and Scoop
By Aleks Kops, social media and buying assistant
After enjoying ourselves thoroughly in Berlin, Wandering Minds’ search for new design talents and fashion education brought us, with mixed results, to the London trade-shows - arty Scoop International and educational Pure.
At the beginning of February, we indulged in the arty atmosphere of Scoop trade show held in the Saatchi gallery. A young and cool feel was floating in the air as the brands were presented in rooms full of Saatchi current exhibition pieces. We happily wandered all day spotting new London-based brands and getting lost in the world of contemporary art at the same time. Scoop is never really a place where we’ve actually found new brands, however - with most brands standing on the more upmarket side of the business - but is more about diving into a world of cool and coming out with fresh, new inspirations.
The second week of February was to be a more educational affair - two days at Pure trade show in London Olympia packed with interactive seminars, catwalks and talks. Wandering Minds girls kept their eyes and ears opened while WGSN’s Senior Editor in Buying was presenting trends for SS15 and AW15 and mingled with well-known bloggers such as DisneyRollerGirl, My Bubba and Me & Propellernet who were sharing their success stories. Not to forget a vast space of two-floored London Olympia filled with upcoming brands waiting to be discovered. Contrary to Scoop, Pure has a more affordable offering, but one that this time didn’t quite fit our own style ethos.
