My style formula - Aleks, social media assistant

By Aleks, Wandering Minds social media queen and buying assistant

Strolling the streets of London (mostly the trendy East) surrounded by hundreds of fashion conscious individuals with their own, seemingly very well-defined fashion personalities, I sometimes feel overwhelmed by the variety of styles, subcultures and colours. London is, after all, the birth place of street style, which can be categorised in several sub-street affinities, be it street chic, street slut, street hipster, street street, the list goes on.

My own tried and tested version of street style can be summed up in two simple yet effective formulas: the infamous ‘less is more’ and the importance of details/accessories. I am 'understated street', the aim being to look like you haven't tried at all, even though we all know that this is indeed the most difficult effect to achieve.

To live by this fashion mantra, I have adopted a few effortless daytime pieces in my wardrobe, like the colour-block dresses from Cozete or Outstanding Ordinary, which I can just throw on without thinking too much about it:

Oversized colour-block dress, £49

Clean deep-back dress, £79

On chilly days, I combine skinny jeans and a cozy yet interesting sweater, like the snow white oversized textured zigzag knit by Grace Raiment, spiced up with a touch of red lipstick, or Oustanding Ordinary' quilted sweaters (in all colours!). Finish the look with delicate jewellery (try BDM studio for quirky and feminine pieces) and natural, tousled, 'french girl' hair.

Cropped grey quilted sweater, £64

 White textured zigzag knit, £69
